Chris Larkin started his recording career as a guitarist. His guitar teacher, John Forbing, encouraged him to record the songs that he wrote. This led to the purchase of a four track Portastudio and the discovery of a recording studio and recording class at his high school. The studio was outfitted with two ADATs and a 48 track Mackie console. This was Chris’ first exposure to high quality audio recording.
After graduating high school and much research, Chris decided to attend the four year recording technology program at the University of Memphis. There he learned to use a variety of recording mediums including the original Digidesign MBox, the Neve Libra Digital Console, the Alesis Masterlink, the RADAR 24, the Otari MTR 90 24 track 2” Inch Tape Machine, and ProTools HD.
During his four years in Memphis, Chris worked for the University of Memphis as the Head Recording Engineer for Harris Concert Hall, as the Recording Engineer for the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and as a staff engineer for Memphis SoundWorks.
After college Chris moved to Chicago, where he is currently located. He is presently doing an internship with Gravity Studios and working as the House Recording Engineer for Prolifiq Records.
